Carved by an indigenous Seri Indian from Sonora Mexico. VERY RARE subject of a large long horned bull jumping a corral, livestock pen or fence. Made of local Sonoran ironwood, an extreme hardwood that has beautiful natural swirls of color and graining throughout.
Ironwood being incredibly hard to work shape and polish; requiring many hours of skilled hand labor. Extra large sculpture measures approximately 13" long, 9" wide, 11 high. This sculpture represents the quintessential lifestyle of the Sonoran "Norteno vaquero" and was carved from pure knowledge and experience by its maker. An amazing and beautiful art piece for any collector of cowboy art, or anyone that appreciates the western lifestyle and its decor.I was lucky enough to acquire this rare piece while on a trip to Sonora, where I bought it from the actual artist who is a cowboy ranch hand, but also carves to supplement his income.
